Ultrasonic Cleaning

Film material from 8mm to 35mm is run through our Lipsner Smith ultrasonic film cleaner. During this process surface dirt is gently removed by ultrasonic vibrations in a warm solvent bath prior to scanning.

Ultrasonic film cleaning is the safest and most effective method to professionally clean any motion picture film including acetate, nitrate, and polyester.

We treat our responsibility of caring for your film very seriously as befitting a specialist restoration studio. It’s not unusual for film to be returned in far better condition than it arrived.

Safe Storage

On arrival to our facility all film, tape and audio media is barcoded and logged in our media asset management system. While awaiting digitisation all materials are stored in our secure media library where temperature and humidity is maintained for optimal preservation.

Any material showing signs of mould or vinegar syndrome is kept in quarantine storage and processed separately. Similarly, nitrate film is stored separately in a fireproof cabinet.

The security of your film is of paramount importance. Our premises are fitted with internal and external CCTV and a lockdown alarm system.
